Trees
How we help you
Many factors come into play when choosing the right fruit or nut trees for your orchard. The variety you choose will depend on your geographic region and unique climate, but regardless you’ll want to choose water-efficient, resistant, high-yielding trees and consider an integrated pest management strategy (IPM). We source resistant high-yielding tree varieties from our own nursery or other local or international companies depending on geographic region. With extensive experience in orchard cultivation, we are able to help you choose the best tree for your region and advise on planting, spacing, pruning strategies, and orchard maintenance.

Irrigation
How we help you
Proper irrigation and fertigation is vital for a flourishing orchard, giving you certainty when weather patterns are unpredictable. In fruit and nut tree cultivation, double drip lines or micro sprinklers are most commonly used to ensure equal watering and nutrition on either side of each tree. Please visit our irrigation page for more details if you are looking for an irrigation solution for your orchard.

Planting Equipment
How we help you
We source high-quality soil preparation and planting equipment to create an environment for your orchard to thrive. We help with preparatory steps like soil testing, and help you get the right equipment to do the planting yourself or make the connection with a local partner for outsourcing, depending on your needs. Depending on the soil quality and plot condition, we advise on deep soil ripping, plowing, and seedbed preparation techniques and machinery for breaking up compacted soil layers and preparing to plant your orchard. Seedbed preparation techniques include leveling, soil improvement, fertilizing, and soil amendment. An automatic drill is used to dig the holes in which to plant saplings or seedlings with correct positioning and depth, to ensure proper growth and development. Grass seeding is used for improving the filtration capacity of the soil surrounding the trees, to prevent erosion, and as a permanent cover to prevent weeds.

Maintenance Equipment
How we help you
Maintaining your orchard is investing in your future and the health, yield, and lifetime of your trees. We are able to teach you everything from effective pruning techniques to proper fertilizing and spraying for better yields, higher quality, and healthier trees.
Pruning equipment includes manual trimmers and electronic pruning shears for saplings and saw trimmers for mature trees. Different pruning methods are necessary depending on the type and age of your trees, local geography, season, and climate. With experience growing our own fruit and nut orchards and nursery, we know the ins and outs of proper pruning for healthy trees and ideal yields.
Spraying includes insecticides, pesticides, and herbicides, as well as organic alternatives, which improve your orchard by preventing unnecessary damage from pests and competition from weeds for nutrients, sunlight, and water.
While prevention is important, proper nutrition is even more so. With the proper nutrient profile your orchard will not only survive, but thrive. With a keen understanding of nutrient needs for fruit and nut cultivation as well as methods for precision delivery of fertilizer like fertigation, we are able to not only create an effective fertilizing protocol for your orchard but help you utilize your fertilizer as effectively as possible for the best result possible.
Automated or manual weed control via mechanical weeding is highly effective in protecting young trees from competition for nutrients, sunlight, and water as well as more established trees from the choking influence of excessive weeds. As one of the oldest and most well-known methods for agricultural maintenance, weeding requires care to prevent damage to trees and unnecessary soil erosion.
Invest in the health, yield and lifetime of your trees!

Harvest Equipment
How we help you
Besides planting and maintenance equipment for your orchard, harvest equipment is the most important investment you will make into your orchard. Your yield and product quality, as well as the lifespan and health of your trees, largely depends on using the right equipment for your context and application. At TGS we have extensive experience in fruit and nut propagation, and are ready to give your orchard the best chance at success with advice and practical support regarding choosing, maintaining, and implementing harvest equipment and machinery. Machinery we source includes tractors, carts and trolleys, harvesting nets, hydraulic tree shakers, harvesting rollers, and other equipment for ensuring optimal harvest.
When choosing the right tractor or tractors for your orchard operation, it’s important to consider the range of applications they’ll be used for and power requirements for those applications. Tractors are used constantly in agriculture for many purposes, from transport of irrigation equipment to planting and harvesting, so it’s vital that whichever you choose is high-quality, powerful enough for your needs and any modular equipment, and can tolerate any circumstantial challenges of your location and orchard or farm configuration. We help you choose the best tractor or tractors for your context, which can accommodate your workload and are versatile enough to meet the challenges of your orchard operation.
Harvesting trolleys and carts are used in a number of applications, from manual harvesting to transporting crates of harvested nuts or fruit within the orchard.
Harvesting nets are used for nut harvest as an effective and relatively inexpensive alternative to manual tree shaking and collecting or mechanical harvest methods. Harvest nets are placed around
Hydraulic tree shaking machines are attached to tractors to allow for efficient harvest of nuts, apples, pears, and other orchard fruit. The machines we source are high quality and affordable while still providing you with a high yield and making your job easier. The machines we source are able to shake between 55 and 75 trees per hour, ensuring an efficient workflow and improved harvest.
Harvesting rollers include both small-scale manual harvesting rollers for nut harvest and tractor-mounted mechanical rollers for large-scale harvesting.
In addition to harvest equipment, we provide solutions for everything that happens after. Post-harvest processing equipment is necessary for storing, sorting, washing, peeling and slicing, and packaging your product properly to ensure you are meeting quality standards and hygiene regulations before entering the market. Market access
What it is
Market access is simply your ability to sell your product, either locally or internationally. Having access to the market involves overcoming barriers to trade, which includes meeting local or international regulations and standards and obtaining certifications which add value and validity to your product.
How we help
We have experience helping clients in the following three main areas of market access:
- Identifying and complying with local and international standards, and meeting the criteria for certifications which increase market access. Depending on your market, obtaining organic, ISO (International Organization for Standardization), and/or GLOBAL G.A.P. certifications will increase your market access and the legitimacy of your business.
- Transport of goods and meeting transport requirements.
- Discovering wholesalers and potential purchasers for client’s products and making the connection in an efficient and effective manner that gives you the best chance of success.

Our approach

Quick-Scan
Business calculations
Bussiness development plan
Click the tabs above to read more about our 3-step approach.
Quick-scan is a short consultation that will take you from a basic outline to an understanding of the investment required for your business plan and the steps to get there. We perform back-of-the-envelope calculations based on our extensive experience to determine the feasibility of your business idea or potential investment. If you have already done some research and collected information such as your operating costs, utility prices, product prices, and labour requirements and wages, we can do a free quick-scan very quickly. However, if we have to collect the data for you it will take a bit longer and there will be a small fee involved.
Please contact us or fill out the contact form and we’ll get back to you to set up a meeting time!
Business calculations give you insight into the local and global market, help you choose the right investment strategy, and show what growth could look like for you. At TGS, we help you ensure that your plan is profitable before you even begin, or change a plan that is not working the way you want it to.
The first thing is to look at your investment overview, which is the initial cost of starting your business or making a new investment. This could include purchasing new machinery or equipment, land, buildings, or other capital, but does not include any operational costs.
Next, we want to look at all the variables for your production line. These are costs that you expect to change month by month or year to year, like labour, the selling price of your product, delivery charges, utilities, or sourcing raw materials. These are costs that fluctuate based on market conditions.
Profit and loss calculations give an indication of profitability and your margins, information that helps you understand how solid your business is and gauge your ability to generate profit over a set period of time.
Looking at cash flow helps you understand the daily operational costs and revenue of your business. While profit and loss calculations look at long-term changes and the overall financial position of your company, cash flow is what’s going on at the micro level in your business bank account.
Finally, a flexibility test is used to look at how secure your business case is by measuring the response to fluctuations in your production costs or the sales price of your product. This test gives you insight into the overall financial stability of your company.
Market Data is all about understanding the demand for what you are producing. This involves finding your market niche and determining what product grade you need to attain given your market, what standards and certifications are necessary to reach your customer, and determining what equipment is worth the investment given your resources. We own four profitable farms and grow a wide variety of crops while applying these principles and utilizing the same business calculations we will use to optimize your company’s performance.
Example:
Suppose you are operating an apple orchard in Uzbekistan. It is September and you have a lot of apples. You have three options: you could sell them immediately on the local market at a low price, store them in cold storage facilities and sell them later when demand is higher, or package them for export and sell your apples for a better price to a wholesaler in Russia. Determining which option is best involves understanding the local and global market and choosing what equipment to invest in and which certifications and permits to apply for.
